My Latest Reads: Review (and also a chit chat!)

Hi readers!
I want to start off by saying Hey, and a massive thank you for continuing your visitation of my blog! It is appreciated loads :) I was thinking earlier, the most amazing feeling I got when I signed on to blogspot with having had 2 followers, and then seeing it had jumped to 5! (This is obviously no big deal to anyone.. but I had a very proud moment!). Now, it has jumped to 6! ONE WHOLE NEW FOLLOWER! baha, thankyou new followers and welcome :)

Anything else to babble about or shall I just get into it? yes.. hurry up I hear you cry.
So last night I could not sleep a wink. I have no idea why; I went to bed around 12am and just wasn't tired really. When I can't sleep I get so frustrated and angry... it's a hideous sight. I get warm and flustered and uncomfortable. So I thought, heck, let's try and read to calm me down and get me sleepy!

As some of you may or may not know, my current read was Melissa Hill's "Please forgive me". I got this for Christmas but only started reading it around.. February maybe? It took me a while to get through it due to exams!

This is what mine looks like :)
I have to say this book was odd. I'm Irish, it's an Irish book...but I'm not crazy about that kind of thing. Anyway, it's actually set in America. There's a lot of secrets throughout the book, lots of.... "He knew.. I knew.. I could never forget what I did.. he would never forgive me, what I did was awful" etcetc (not exactly those lines but you understand, right?) And this sort of thing leaves you screaming to yourself like WHAT, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! TELL US FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!
You really don't find out anything until the very, very end. Which causes a frustrating journey but when all is revealed it is rather shocking! In my mind, I thought of so many things - the obvious kind of "shocker" or what ever, but no.. it really did shock me!

Am I making sense? I'll give you the general plot...

So basically Leonie is Irish from Dublin, she moves to America at the beginning of the book and there's an obvious dilemma evident. Basically we wonder throughout the whole read why she has supposedly "ran away" to America.
Here, she works in a flower shop with Marcy her boss (not really relevant) and meets Alex her neighbour in the apartments they live in (an American journalist who also faces major dilemma in the story).
The two become best friends really, helping each other and what not - well it's actually Leonie following Alex's story of a divorce with her cheating husband Seth - who is supposedly a "charmer".
THEN there are these letters found in Leonie's house. From a past resident of the apartment.. they are love letters from "Nathan" to "Helena" and are very romantic, each one asking for forgiveness.
Which leads to another mystery - why does Nathan want to be forgiven? Who are these people? etcetcetc. Also, Leonie is determined to get to the bottom of it... perhaps indicating they relate to her own life somehow....? Hmmmmmm??

That's the basics. There is Adam also, Leonie's ex from Dublin, the reason why she "escapes" to America. We still have no idea what happens between them until the end though.. I won't spoil it!

It is a pretty crazy read, it struck me as a little cheesy to begin, but you learn to enjoy the characters and the whole book as a whole!

I like that I was actually shocked in the end - twice! Major surprises!

Overall, I recommend :)

Have you read any Melissa Hill books?

Ciao for now!

Want want wants!

Good morning everyone!
(or should I say good afternoon?)
I haven't been up very long...my lie ins have become a little ridiculous; I need to get a summer LIFE!
So I'm sitting here and I'm watching some random adverts on TV.. and I began to think of some thingsies I want to get.
Who knows if I'll get them? Most of the time I do end up buying these things but like 4 months after writing about them :)
Let me know if you have tried any of these products!

Max Factor smooth effect foundation
I am a foundation aholic. Even if I'm happy with my current foundation, I just always want to try out new ones!
I was wanting the other Max Factor foundation.. the one with the Green X? I can't remember it's name! Although, I heard it's coverage is only light, and this foundation seems to be the new update of it; with more coverage! So yes, I want to try this so bad!

Now this isn't the exact brush I want - the one I was looking for is in superdrug and is much cheaper I'm guessing!
But for the sake of this post, basically I am wanting a flat top foundation brush. People are raving about these all the time; how they apply foundation so smoothly and naturally! So I am simply dying to give some kind of flat topped brush a go :)

This is a gorgeous minty coloured nail polish from Revlon
I don't actually own a mint nail polish... and this one looks rather yummy so I really would love to try this for summer :)

GOSH Primer
I am aware that there are 2 kinds of GOSH primer.. or maybe 3? Okay turns out I am not aware after all. haha
All I've seen is this gel one above, and a cream one...
I've never tried primers, so I'm not the priming expert! Although, I think this gel one might be good for my oily skin. The problem is, my current foundation stays on just fine, so I guess I'm hoping a primer will keep me matte all day long, rather than keeping my makeup on.
Is it silly to hope a primer will do that?!
Anyways, I might give this one a go :)

So that is all I'm afraid! Not a very big want list. I really am trying not to splurge out in Boots or Superdrug anymore. I could seriously buy just about everything in those places if I had the chance! So trying to keep my beauty purchases as minimal as possible :)

Have you tried any of these?
Would you recommend?

Ciao for now

Review: TRESemmé volumising dry shampoo

Hi lovelies!
Finally, I feel like I'm back and I can do reviews and what not! I hope I haven't bored you shameless with my babbling posts.
So over these few weeks whilst I was in the City, I was able to do a spot of shopping on my lunch breaks. No big clothes buys or anything, just popping into Boots or Superdrug or whatever, to get some essentials!
I've heard SwalkerMakeup raving about this dry shampoo from TRESemmé so I thought I'd give it a go. Although, Batiste has been my dry shampoo baby for quite some time, I was still willing to try something different and seeing as it's TRESemmé, I thought heck - what could be worse than that?

So here it is :)
I must say, I really like the packaging of this thing. Especially the volumising one as the writing is pink - I don't even like pink, but it just looks so pretty!
Batiste dry shampoos are awfully powdery and I must say the smell gets a little heavy and sickening, even if you switch around with the different scents.
This, I think, is a much easier scent to handle. It is basically like all TRESemmé products - just that really fresh, salon kind of smell that just smells good? If you get me... haha
Another great difference with this is that it doesn't go half as white as Batiste does. Maybe lighter haired people don't notice Batiste's whiteness, but my goodness with brown hair like mine, it goes an awfully grey dull colour!
But with TRESemmé, I feel like it sprays clearly. I will admit that after it settles a bit and you begin to rub it in, you will notice some kind of colour in your hair, it just isn't half as obvious as Batiste's whiteness - which I love about this TRESemmé dry shampoo.
Em.. anything else? I will say that this particular volumising one is cool; it's nice they way they've actually made a specific one to volumise.. however I won't lie..I don't really notice the volume that much? If I'm honest, I feel like Batiste gives me more volume.. odd I know!
The price of this is dearer than Batiste.. it is around £4-£5 whilst I think (I think!) Batiste is around £2-£3?

Overall, it is a more classy and luxurious dry shampoo in comparison to the classic Batiste. I would repurchase although I guess I was expecting to be absolutely waowed by this, and my expectations fell a little! (booooo!)

Hope this helps - If you've tried any of the other TRESemmé dry shampoos or even this volumising one, pleeeeeeease let me know! I'd love to hear what you thought of it :)

Lazy Sunday

Hi loveys!
I'm yet to be back on track with my beauty related blogposts - you MUST be getting sick of my constant rambling posts by now! Apologies!
So it's Sunday and it's lazy. I haven't had a lazy day in so long... I'm enjoying it, although I must say I am missing the buzzing city working week that has passed! R.I.P work experience, I loved you..

Anyway, to be a little less depressing, as you know I have had my "night to mark the beginning of summer" with all my girlies. It was FABULOUS! I really enjoyed it. It's been so long since I just went out and had fun :)
I haven't wore heels in ages though... my feet are still very very sore!!

Next thing on my agenda, get some moneys into my bank with a little summer job (HOPEFULLY!)
and then get on the road. Hell yes :)

Thanks for sticking with my blog, even though it has been nothing but boring rambles for so long!
I really love all my little readers, your viewing means a lot :)

Au revoir for now

Just popping on and popping off!

Hi beautiful people! *sings Chris Brown*
How are you? Again, I feel as though it has been completely AGES since I last posted. I really do apologise, I am saddened by this also!
As you know, or may not... I think I mentioned this on either twitter or a previous post; I had a lot of upcoming stuff around this time of the month.
First, I didn't blog because of exams, which finally finished but freedom was not mine just yet, oh no!
Then this was the week that I had to do work experience, an essential part of our school year where we go to a place which interests us to get experience and stuff! So I've been in the city doing that all week, which is now finishing tomorrow! yay and nay! I really enjoyed it :')
and THEN, I may have also mentioned, my dire need to finally mark the official beginning of freedom by going out with all my girlies and having a good old party! Which is also due TOMORROW!
My calender this month has been rather hectic, but I can honestly say I've never felt so wonderful in my life. There's something truely adrenaline-pumping about a busy schedule that I had never realised before... Also about work experience, I have absolutely loved it! Of course the first few days were strange, early mornings, a little awkward whatever. But isn't it always that you enjoy things once they have to end???!! So annoying! I've been so independent - I'm so proud of myself for that :) I feel so confident, I'm asking questions and walking up to people and questioning and just doing my thing - the city really makes this sort of independence thrive, I absolutely love it.

Anywho, enough of that gobbledy goop. Basically I apologise, I'm out to work tomorrow and then partying and then having a MUCH needed lie in. And then, cue summer!
I have bought so many goodies I really hope you will enjoy reading my reviews on them!

See you all very soon and have an enjoyable weekend!!

LOVE!!

Review Part 5 & 6: Natural Collection Blush & No7 Turqoise Eyeliner

Hi everyone!!
How are you? I'm just sitting on my laptop whilst watching Mean Girls (most amazing film of all time!). I thought I should really finish up that on-going review post I've been doing so as I can start another (I've bought some interesting products recently that I'd love to review!)
So here are the last to of the bunch

♥ Natural Collection Blusher in Dusky Pink

I bought this blusher recently after my other Natural collection one hit pan! However, my other one is in the shade Pink Cloud - I've been buying pink cloud ever since I started wearing makeup! This is SO easily priced it's incredible; I think why spend so much on blusher? Really you could even use a pink eyeshadow, right? So this is about £1-£2 which is amazing! It's a really great colour and is pretty pigminted. I'll say it's a little dark for me, I guess I have to say I prefer the shade pink cloud for everyday wear. But this will look great on nights out if I want a more bronzey/coral shaded blusher rather than just a light pink! :)

 ♥ No7 Metallic Eyes Pencil - Turqoise

This is the No7 eyeliner in turqouise. I won't lie guys, I haven't used this a lot - I got this about... 2 years ago as a gift from a friend. It's basically the colour that is so WAOW and daring! Hard to find the right event or look to use it. But the consistency of this is AMAZING, I wish I took a picture of the lead! If you can get this in black I think it would be brilliant for everyday wear as the lead is just so soft and creamy - reminds me a little of Urban decay eyeliners. I really love the way this goes on and how easy it works but the colour is a little bright to be realistic. It is still an amazing colour though, right? :)

So there we go lovelies, that's that review post all done and dusted! I really hope this helped somewhat, as I said before these products are pretty random! Just ones I found in my makeup collection and thought I'd show you :)

Thanks ever so for reading!
I'll be back soony to review more thingsies I've got recently and also just to post randomly

Speak soony :)

Adios♥

Friday 17 June 2011

Hello again :)

Hi beautiful people!
I do apologise lotsies. I feel as though I haven't went near this thing in so LONG! It saddens me!!
If you've been on twittaaa you will know I am finished my exams! finally! Although I need to take a week to go on work experience (something necessary this year) so that's another busy week of working and stuff, when will I get my freedom?!

So after that week, a much needed celebration is due, so I will most definitely be out on the razzle in my heelios dancing and boogying and looking glam with my girlies, I cannot wait, it has been sooooo long! A great way to just mark the start of summer FINALLY!

So give me this week of work experience, a good boogie, and then yes I will surely be back with lots of blogging fun for summer! I apologise for all this delay and rubbish short posts!!

Thanks again everyoneeeeeee for staying with me and STILL reading!

I appreciate it a whole bunch :)

Bye for now..... !

Update: Chilling in my Snuggie

No.
Not like Bruno Mars' song or anything related to "The Lazy Song".. *shudders*
I DESPISE THE LAZY SONG !!!!!!

.... Anyway..
Hi beautiful little doveys! (I sound like such a prat being so lovey dovey to absolute strangers)
WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I'm chilling. If you've been on Twitta you'll know I went shopping today! Woke up seriously early for the big city and was running around exhausted buying thingsies. Maybe I'll do a haul post later? who knows!

So yes, I'm being very lazy. I've basically drowned myself in cups of tea and am living in my snuggie... not very healthy now is it? Atleast I left the house today..
I plan to spend the whole of tomorrow in the Library - actually get some WORK done!! None of this at home stuff where blogging/twitter/youtube is just a click away...
What else? I updated my Ipod, and I am LOVING Coldplay's new song... I know I posted it on twitter already, but for you random readers, have a listen :) It's rather beaut..

There's also something really nice about the Single's cover :) I just love Coldplay...

Okay lovelies, I'm going to get a bath and be even more lazy than I've been since 2pm this afternoony.

Enjoy your evening :)
relax, why  not, we all deserve it.

Happy Monday,

Review part 4: Clinique Eye Quad Plum Seduction

Hi beauties!
It's a horrible wet day today. I just made fajitas with my mummy and its 4pm now. Bit of an odd time to be eating fajitas and curly fries but what the heck! It's a boring old Sunday and I've yet to revise since Friday - I'm extending my "break" for as long as possible! I'm just going to continue this review now with product numero 4... Clinique eye quad in Plum Seduction (ooooh!)

♥Clinique Eye Quad - Plum Seduction

Eugh me and my stupid photography! This swatch does the product NO justice...
I was actually given this by my mummy.. I don't buy big fancy Clinique stuff :(
It's really nice. I totally love the colours of this plum seduction one - they're gorgeous! I especially love the bottom left colour.. if you look at the middle photo. It's a lovely charcoal kind of grey/brown, lovely for the crease of the eye :)
I think if you love smokey eye palettes and also love purple - then this is a fabbo tiny, handy product to create an amazing purple/charcoal smokey eye. You can even leave out the two purple shades and create a simple everyday eye look :)
I really love this palette. As I don't really buy Clinique and was given this.. I'm not sure the price :(
I'd say it could be a little pricey though! I'll try and find out :)

Hope this helped muchly,

be back soon for the next parts of the review :)

Review part 3: Rimmel Black Liquid Eyeliner

Hi loveys!
A bit delayed I am aware... but here is the third part of that random little review post that I'm doing! (I really hope this is actually beneficial for you all.. they really are random products!)

♥ Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner in Black

I know... my swatches are always so mental! No sun shines in my room so every picture tends to look a little blue... and there's like a dozen other things on my hand! But just looky looky at the black line :)
I really like this liquid eyeliner but I'm not sure I can review this correctly.. let me tell you why..
Honestly, I'm not a big liquid eyeliner wearer - only on nights out really.
This is the first one I have ever bought or tried... so that kind of cancels the opportunity for me to compare it to others for you.. sorry :(
Although I will say that the colour is verrrry black! Lovely and jet black. It goes onto the upper lash line really smoothly and nicely. The brush (which I should have taken a picture of.. SILLY ME) works well, it's not very skinny, quite chubby actually, like a little stub... which can be a little awkward to use if you want a very thin line rather than a smooth black thicker one.
All in all, a very good jet black smooth liquid eyeliner perfect for night or day looks - whatever your preference!
I think it is around £4.99 - £5.99 so not very bad at all!

I hope this helped somewhat :)
