Hey everyone!
I thought I would do a post on my recent dilemma, that is foundation. Foundation has always been a bother for me and I think it's because I am looking for so much in a foundation! My preference is definitely liquid so that's kind of the main one I'd be on the hunt for! So I will try and break this down good and clear so you can follow it easily and also (I hope) so you can maybe advise me on a foundation that will suit what I'm looking for! I would love to hear your opinions on any mentioned too.
I need:
- Full coverage: an absolute MUST. I am spotty and I just want a good layer to be put on that will cover everything
- Mattifying/will not go too shiny through out the day: I am sadly blessed with oily skin and so I need a foundation that will dry quite matte and will stay that way through out the day (it's okay if it goes a little dewy, that's what powder is for!)
- Colour range: Yellow undertones please! I am kind of tan... not entirely but I am prone to get a bit of colour on holidays etc. No pink undertones for me! For an idea - I use Rimmel Lasting finish in the colour 200 Soft beige and it's pretty much the perfect colour
- Stays put! Rubbing on clothes, I've come to realise, cannot really be avoided let's face it. Although I did have a mousse foundation from No7 and it was literally the worst for rubbing off on clothes. I would basically poke my face and a huge layer of the foundation was sitting on my finger, very nasty indeed!
- Looks and feels natural: when applied, it would be lovely to be looking at a nice smooth surface. I realise that I will always look as if I'm wearing foundation - you can't really avoid this with full coverage, it is quite clearly sitting on the face! However, not majorly cakey because that's nasty :(
- ££££ : From the high street would be much preferred. The highest I have paid for a foundation (I think) was roughly around £12-£13. I am really not willing to pay over £15 and yes, I am very fussy when it comes to pricing! haha
So that is it, that is my wish list and I would love to get all of those factors crammed into one little bottle of magic! I will give you a little list of some I have tried and some I hope to try:
TRIED:
1. Rimmel Lasting Finish 16 hour:
My favourite, the one I am using currently. Then why are you on the hunt you ask? Because I know in my heart that this foundation is missing some of my magic wish list, that's why! I feel I can do better than this but haven't got it yet *sniff sniff*
2. Rimmel Match Perfection foundation:
Bought quickly in the airport before holidays as I thought I would run out of my Lasting Finish. Bought in the same colour - 200 soft beige - eeeeek. Didn't look the same at all! Very orangey and very light coverage and very very shiny! Although it is a good foundation for summer when I have more tan and don't need lots of coverage. Also good for nights out as I am wearing fake tan and am prepared to layer on lots of foundation!
3. No7 Intelligent balancing mousse
A good coverage foundation! Very easy to apply and looks quite flawless and very matte. HOWEVER, (there's always a however...) it comes right off so easily. Doesn't last all day no WAY. If I touch my face its all over my hand. This stuff goes everywhere!
4. Revlon Colorstay Oil/combination skin
My hopes were fully in this foundation. I heard so much raving about it; that it was the best, amazing, nothing like it. Meh. It stinks for a start, almost like paint. Nothing mentioned about minerals etc. So I basically feel like I'm putting paint on my face. Good(ish) coverage, definitely not as good as I expected. Easy enough to blend but dries very quickly so you can't add a little more in problem areas. The colour I chose had pink undertones and when it dried I looked very strange in colour (disappointing). Also, this foundation broke my skin out more!
FOUNDATIONS I WOULD LIKE TO TRY:
1. Rimmel Stay Matte foundation
2. Max Factor Xperience foundation
3. Maybelline 24 hour foundation
Phew, that was a very long post and a very long rant and a lot of pictures! Thank you so much if you took the time to pass by, please come again :)
xxx
